What we mean by Cultural Care
Women's health touches the most personal of matters. Language, cultural values, religion, family structures — all shape how a patient describes complaints, understands recommendations, and makes decisions. Cultural Care means: taking these factors seriously without being paternalistic.
In practice: no assumptions, many questions, time for translation — between concepts, not just languages.
Languages
Dr. Sara speaks German, English and Arabic (Modern Standard and Levantine). Consultation and examination are available in German, English and Arabic. On request, we can prepare the treatment plan with German and Arabic terms.
Please note your preferred language when booking — we plan the appointment accordingly.
An all-female team
Everyone working in our practice is a woman — from reception to assistance to the doctor herself. Consultations, examinations and chaperoning are therefore always carried out by female staff, without you having to arrange it in advance.
For patients to whom this matters for religious, cultural or personal reasons, it is not a special arrangement but simply how the practice works.
Sensitive topics
We know some topics are hard to voice. With us you can raise sensitive questions, without judgment:
- First consultation in puberty — also without physical examination
- Contraception in religiously sensitive contexts (e.g. without hormones)
- Sexual-medicine questions, painful intercourse
- Counselling before and after marriage
- Pregnancy as a single woman, unwanted pregnancy
- Experiences with FGM/cutting — discreet, with specialist referral
- Trauma history — without pressure, at your pace
Pre-marriage counselling
On request: medical aspects before marriage — contraception options, joint family planning, prevention check-up, vaccination status, genetics (e.g. thalassaemia carrier status). With partner or alone.
Religion & treatment
We respect religious practice — fasting in pregnancy, medication ingredients, choice of contraception. We give evidence-based recommendations, and you decide what fits your faith.
