Frequently asked questions

Emergency routes

Life-threatening emergency: call 144 immediately. For urgent but non-life-threatening concerns outside our office hours, call Ärztefon Zurich on 0800 33 66 55. During office hours call the practice on 044 525 20 60.

Appointment & booking

How can I book an appointment?

The quickest option is our online booking, where currently available appointment times are shown directly. You can also contact us by phone at 044 525 20 60 during office hours, or by email at info@gynhaus.ch.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Routine prevention depends on availability and is usually planned within the next few weeks. For urgent concerns such as pain, bleeding or pregnancy-related questions, please call — we will check whether a short-notice appointment is possible.

How do I cancel an appointment?

Please cancel by phone or email at least 24 hours before the appointment starts so that we can offer the slot to someone else. A CHF 80 no-show fee is only considered if that condition was clearly agreed before booking. Until the differing E-PAT notices have been technically aligned, the 24-hour deadline applies in the patient's favour. In an unforeseeable exceptional situation, please contact us as early as possible.

First visit

What should I bring to the first appointment?

Insurance card, official ID, and — if available — previous reports, vaccination booklet, list of current medications and pregnancy documents.

The first visit includes time to get acquainted — an examination is only performed if medically meaningful and with your consent.

How long does an appointment take?

First consultation: 30 – 45 min. Routine prevention: around 30 min. Pregnancy care: 30 – 60 min depending on trimester. We plan enough time for the appointment — please allow a little reserve.

Can I bring a companion?

Yes — partner, mother or friend. On request, a female team member can also be present during the examination when available.

Languages & culture

What languages are spoken at the practice?

German (practice language), English, and Arabic (Modern Standard and Levantine). Please note your language preference when booking — we plan the appointment accordingly.

Will I be seen by female staff?

Yes, always. Our team currently consists entirely of women — from reception to assistance to the doctor. You do not need to mention this when booking.

What does “culturally sensitive care” mean?

We respect religious, cultural and personal values — for instance regarding privacy, companionship, language preference, contraception or pre-marital consultations. More on the Cultural Care page.

Insurance & costs

Will my insurance cover the cost?

Covered services are billed through Swiss compulsory basic insurance under the outpatient tariff system of TARDOC and outpatient flat rates in force since 2026. Unless a statutory exemption applies, the deductible and co-payment remain payable. Non-covered requested and self-pay services are explained in advance.

How is pregnancy care billed?

The legally defined special maternity services are exempt from deductible and co-payment throughout pregnancy. In addition, general illness-related services are exempt from cost sharing from the 13th week of pregnancy until eight weeks after birth. Not every optional service is part of the statutory catalogue. See the pregnancy information.

Where can I find the self-pay price list?

The current list is available under Patient information · self-pay prices. We explain the expected price before every self-pay service.

Privacy & communication

How do I securely send findings to the practice?

A normal email that you start yourself is not automatically end-to-end encrypted merely because it is sent to our HIN address. For health information, please call us: the practice can initiate a confidential HIN message to which you can reply through the secure access. Use normal email only for general matters without health data.

Will my data be shared?

Only where required for treatment or billing, for example with laboratories, treating professionals or insurers — with your consent or where legally permitted or required. Do not send sensitive health data in a normal email that you start yourself; call us first for a secure transfer route. See our privacy policy.
